Live Casino: How It Works, Real Odds and Where to Play
A live casino streams real dealers, real cards and real wheels from a studio to your screen, and you bet through the same interface as a digital game. The odds are those of the underlying game: a live European roulette wheel still has a 2.70% house edge.
What changes is the pace, which is slower, and the table limits, which are wider. In the UAE, the only licensed online live casino is Play971: on 22 October 2026 its live lobby had 30 tables of roulette, blackjack, baccarat and Dragon Tiger, with stakes from AED 2 to AED 100,000.
This guide explains how live dealer games work, which games you will find and what each one really costs, how game shows such as Crazy Time and Dream Catcher compare with the classic tables, what Play971’s live lobby offers in dirhams, how live play affects bonuses, and what to check before you sit down at a table. Last reviewed: 22 October 2026.

Best Online Live Casinos for Dubai Players in 2026
These are the casinos we rate. The live tables each one offers — and their limits and rules — vary by operator, so check a table’s rules panel before you play. Play971, at the top, is the only one licensed by the UAE’s GCGRA; the others are licensed abroad. See what each live game really costs before you choose.

How a Live Casino Works
A live dealer game is broadcast from a studio — or, less often, from the floor of a land-based casino — by several cameras. The dealer spins a real wheel or deals real cards, and the result is read automatically by the equipment on the table: card shoes and roulette wheels have sensors, and optical character recognition turns what the camera sees into data the game software can settle. Your bets, the result and your balance all run through the casino’s platform, while the video is a stream you watch in real time.
Each round has a betting window, usually 10 to 20 seconds, shown by a timer. When it closes, the dealer plays the round, the result appears on screen, and winning bets are paid automatically. Most tables keep a history of recent results, and many have a chat where you can talk to the dealer — the dealer reads it, but other players’ messages are usually moderated.

How to Play at a Live Casino
01
Open the live lobby and choose a game and a table whose limits suit your budget.
02
Check the rules panel — payouts, side bets and the return to player are listed there.
03
Place your bets before the timer runs out, by choosing a chip and clicking the layout.
04
Watch the round: the dealer spins or deals, and the result is read automatically.
05
Collect or rebet: winnings are paid to your balance; “Rebet” repeats your last bets.
06
Keep an eye on the clock — rounds come one after another, so set a time and a budget before you start.
Live Casino vs RNG Casino Games
| Item | Live dealer | RNG (digital) |
|---|---|---|
| Result decided by | Physical cards, wheel or dice, read by sensors | A random number generator |
| Odds | The same for the same rules | |
| Speed | Paced by the dealer — about 50 roulette spins an hour | As fast as you click — several hundred rounds an hour |
| Minimum bets | Usually higher | Often very low |
| Maximum bets | Often much higher, especially at VIP tables | Usually lower |
| Free demo | Rarely | Usually |
| Data use | High — a continuous video stream | Low |
The slower pace is the most underrated difference. At the same stake and the same house edge, a live table costs less per hour because you place fewer bets. At AED 10 a spin and about 50 spins an hour on a European wheel, the expected cost is about AED 13 an hour; a digital wheel played as fast as it allows can cost several times as much.
Live Casino Games and Their House Edge
| Game | Typical house edge | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Live blackjack | About 0.5% with basic strategy | Depends on the rules; Evolution’s Infinite Blackjack returns 99.47% |
| Live baccarat — Banker | 1.06% | Player 1.24%; Tie at 8:1 14.36% |
| Live craps — Pass Line | 1.41% | Proposition bets are far higher |
| Live European roulette | 2.70% | French rules with la partage: 1.35% on even-money bets |
| Sic Bo — Big or Small | 2.78% | Triples lose these bets |
| Three Card Poker | 3.37% | Standard pay table |
| Dream Catcher — best bet | 3.42% | The 10 segment; other bets 4.49% to 9.19% |
| Dragon Tiger | 3.73% | Tie bet at 8:1: 32.77% |
| Live American roulette | 5.26% | The double zero nearly doubles the edge |
Our calculations: blackjack for a continuously shuffled shoe with basic strategy; baccarat, Dragon Tiger and Three Card Poker counting every possible deal; roulette, craps, Sic Bo and Dream Catcher from the layout and the wheel. Infinite Blackjack: Evolution’s game rules. Game shows such as Crazy Time publish their return in the rules panel, which varies by casino. Always check the rules panel of the table you play.
The spread is wide: the same AED 100 costs about 50 fils on average at a good blackjack table and more than AED 5 on American roulette, so the game you choose matters more than the table you sit at.

Live Roulette
Live roulette is the most widely streamed live game. European tables use one zero and a 2.70% house edge; French tables add la partage, which halves the edge on even-money bets to 1.35%; American tables add a double zero and a 5.26% edge. Speed and auto roulette tables play the same game with shorter betting windows. Multiplier games such as Lightning Roulette pay random bonus multipliers on some numbers, funded by lower standard payouts — check the paytable in the rules before you assume the usual 35:1. Our online roulette guide explains every bet and its odds.
On 22 October 2026 Play971’s live lobby had six roulette tables, from AED 2–20,000 a bet on Roulette Bronze to AED 50–100,000 on Roulette Platinum.
Live Blackjack
Live blackjack is the only common live game where your decisions change the odds. With good rules and correct basic strategy, the house edge is around 0.5%; a table paying 6:5 for blackjack instead of 3:2 adds about 1.4 percentage points. Seats are limited — usually seven — so studios also offer “bet behind”, where you bet on another player’s hand, and unlimited-seat games such as Infinite Blackjack, in which every player shares the same initial cards. Evolution’s game rules give Infinite Blackjack a return of 99.47%, Lightning Blackjack 99.56%, Power Blackjack 98.80% and Free Bet Blackjack 98.45%. Our blackjack guide has the full basic strategy chart.
Live Baccarat and Dragon Tiger
Live baccarat needs no decisions after you bet. The Banker bet has a 1.06% house edge after the usual 5% commission, the Player bet 1.24%, and the Tie at 8:1 more than 14%. Speed baccarat deals faster; squeeze baccarat reveals the cards slowly for suspense; no-commission tables pay only half on Banker wins with a total of 6, which raises the Banker edge to about 1.46%. Dragon Tiger is a one-card relative with a 3.73% edge. Our baccarat guide has the third-card rules in full.
On 22 October 2026 Play971’s live lobby had five baccarat tables — Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and VIP Speed Baccarat — and four Dragon Tiger tables, with limits from AED 10 to AED 100,000 a hand.
Live Poker Games
Live casinos do not run poker against other players — you play against the dealer, so there is no bluffing and no other players to beat. The most common formats are dealer-hand games built on Texas Hold’em and three-card poker:
| Game | How it works | House edge |
|---|---|---|
| Three Card Poker | Ante, then Play or Fold against the dealer’s three cards; a qualifying hand is needed | 3.37% on Ante and Play, standard pay table |
| Casino Hold’em | Ante, then Call or Fold after the flop, against the dealer’s two cards | 2.16% of the ante with the most common pay table |
Three Card Poker: our calculation, playing queen-6-4 or better. Casino Hold’em: standard pay-table analysis published on Wikipedia.
Like blackjack, these games reward decisions: folding and raising at the right moments is what keeps the edge near the figures above. Side bets on pairs or bonus hands usually carry a much higher edge. Play971’s live lobby did not list live poker tables on 22 October 2026.
Live Dice Games: Sic Bo and Craps
Sic Bo is a three-dice game from China in which you bet on totals, combinations or single numbers. The simplest bets, Big (a total of 11 to 17) and Small (4 to 10), pay even money, win 48.61% of the time and have a house edge of 2.78% — any triple loses them. The specific-triple and total bets pay far more but cost far more on average.
Craps is played with two dice, and its best bets are among the cheapest in any casino: the Pass Line carries a 1.41% house edge. Live craps tables are less common than Sic Bo, and most proposition bets in the centre of the layout have high edges. Both games are fast at a physical table; in a live studio, the pace follows the dealer and the betting window.
Studio Tables vs Land-Based Casino Tables
Most live tables are run in purpose-built studios, with professional dealers, several camera angles and lighting designed for streaming. Some studios also stream tables from the floor of a land-based casino abroad, where online players bet alongside the people at the table. Studio tables are usually faster and more consistent; casino-floor tables add atmosphere but play at the pace of the physical game. The rules and odds are set by the table, not by where it is filmed — so the same house edge applies either way. There is no land-based casino in the UAE to stream from: the first, Wynn Al Marjan Island, is expected to open in September 2027.
Live Game Shows
Game shows are the fastest-growing part of live casinos: a presenter, a big wheel or a board, bonus rounds and multipliers. They are entertaining, but they cost more than the classic tables.
| Game show | Studio | How it works | Return to player |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dream Catcher | Evolution | A 54-segment wheel with number bets and 2x and 7x multiplier segments | 90.81% to 96.58% depending on the bet |
| Monopoly Live | Evolution | A money wheel with a 3D board-game bonus round | Shown in the game’s rules |
| Mega Roulette | Pragmatic Play | Single-zero roulette with random multipliers, wins up to €500,000 | 2.16% of the ante with the most common pay table |
Dream Catcher: our calculation for the 54-segment wheel (23 × 1, 15 × 2, 7 × 5, 4 × 10, 2 × 20, 1 × 40, plus the 2x and 7x multipliers) — best bet 3.42%, worst 9.19%. Mega Roulette: Pragmatic Play’s game page. Return figures for the other shows are published in each game’s in-game rules, which vary by casino.
Two things matter most with game shows. First, the bet you choose matters: on Dream Catcher, the edge ranges from 3.42% on the 10 segment to 9.19% on the 40. Second, the big multipliers that fill the screen are rare by design — the headline maximum is the reason the average return is lower. Play971 did not list any game shows on 22 October 2026.
Arabic Live Casino Tables
Several studios run tables hosted in Arabic. The best-known is Evolution’s Arabic Roulette, reported by industry press as going live on 14 May 2018: a single-zero European wheel in a Middle Eastern-styled studio, with Arabic-speaking dealers. The rules, payouts and house edge are those of the standard game — 2.70% for European roulette — so the language changes the experience, not the odds. Arabic-language blackjack and baccarat tables are also offered by some studios and casinos.
None of the 30 tables in Play971’s live lobby on 22 October 2026 was hosted in Arabic: they were English-language roulette, blackjack, baccarat and Dragon Tiger tables.
Live Casino on Play971
Play971, run by Coin Technology Projects LLC, is the only online casino licensed by the UAE’s federal regulator, the GCGRA. When we opened its live lobby from the UAE on 22 October 2026, it listed 30 tables in four categories, with limits per bet in dirhams:
| Category | Tables | Limits per bet |
|---|---|---|
| Roulette | Triton Roulette, Champions Roulette, Roulette Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum | From AED 2–20,000 (Bronze) to AED 50–100,000 (Platinum) |
| Blackjack | American Blackjack 1 and 2, six Blackjack88 tables, six Play971 American Blackjack88 tables, VIP American Blackjack | From AED 5–5,000 to AED 1,000–100,000 (VIP) |
| Baccarat | Baccarat Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum; VIP Speed Baccarat | From AED 10–5,000 to AED 300–100,000 (VIP Speed) |
| Dragon Tiger | Dragon Tiger Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum | From AED 10–5,000 to AED 100–50,000 |
The lowest stake in the lobby was AED 2 a bet, on Roulette Bronze; the highest maximum was AED 100,000, on Roulette Platinum, VIP American Blackjack and VIP Speed Baccarat. Play is in dirhams, you must be 21 or over and physically in the UAE with location services switched on, and accounts are verified with an Emirates ID.

Live Casino Table Limits: Choosing Your Table
Table limits are the clearest way to match a live game to your budget. A useful rule is to choose a table whose minimum bet is no more than 2–5% of what you are prepared to spend in the session, so a run of losses does not end it in a few rounds. With AED 200, an AED 5 or AED 10 minimum gives you room to play; an AED 50 minimum gives you four bets.
| Session budget | Comfortable minimum bet | Play971 tables in range (22 Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| AED 100–200 | AED 2–5 | Roulette Bronze, Triton Roulette, Blackjack88 Bronze |
| AED 500–1,000 | AED 10–25 | Champions Roulette, Roulette Silver, Baccarat and Dragon Tiger Bronze, Blackjack88 Silver and Gold |
| AED 2,500 and above | AED 50–100 | Roulette Gold and Platinum, American Blackjack, Baccarat Gold and Platinum |
Our guide, based on the limits shown in Play971’s live lobby. It is a budgeting rule of thumb, not a recommendation to play.
A minimum bet of about 1% to 2% of your session budget gives you enough rounds to enjoy the table without one bad run ending the session.
Live Casino Studios
Most live tables at international casinos come from a handful of studios. Evolution is the largest and best known, with classic tables and most of the popular game shows. Pragmatic Play Live runs roulette, blackjack, baccarat and shows such as Mega Wheel and Sweet Bonanza CandyLand. Ezugi and Playtech Live also run large studios, and some casinos have dedicated, branded tables with their own dealers. The studio decides the rules, side bets and the published return; the casino decides which tables it offers and their limits.
The rules panel inside each game is the studio’s own, which is why the same game can carry slightly different rules or side bets from one casino to another.
Live Casino Bonuses and Wagering
Live games are often the worst way to clear a bonus. Under the 10Bet terms we read on 14 October 2026, blackjack, Sic Bo and wheel games contributed 10% to wagering, roulette 5% and baccarat nothing at all — so AED 1,000 bet on live roulette cleared only AED 50 of the requirement. Some casinos run separate live offers instead, most often a weekly cashback on net losses at live tables, with a cap. If you prefer live tables, it can be simpler to play without a bonus. Our casino bonuses guide explains wagering and contributions in detail.
Play971 listed no bonus when we checked on 22 October 2026 — its promotions page returned “Currently unavailable” — so its live tables are played with your own money only.
Is Live Casino Fair?
The physical game is as fair as its equipment and its dealer, and reputable studios are licensed and audited by regulators abroad, with their wheels and shoes tested and their tables monitored. What you can check yourself is the rules panel: the payouts, side bets and the return to player are listed there. What a live stream cannot show you is whether the casino around it pays out reliably — that depends on the operator, not the studio. For a player in the UAE, a studio’s licence abroad does not make an international casino legal.
At Play971, the only licensed operator, the platform’s games and systems also have to meet the GCGRA’s technical standards and be certified by an approved test laboratory.
Is Live Casino Legal in the UAE?
Only at Play971. Gambling in the UAE is lawful only through an operator licensed by the GCGRA, and Play971 is the only licensed online casino. Playing live casino games for money at an international casino from the UAE is unlicensed gambling: Article 461 of the Crimes and Penalties Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 31 of 2021) punishes whoever gambles with up to two years in prison or a fine of up to AED 50,000. There is no land-based casino in Dubai; the UAE’s first, Wynn Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah, is expected to open in September 2027. Our UAE gambling laws guide explains the full picture.
Live Casino on Mobile
Live tables work on phones, usually with a simplified layout: fewer betting positions on screen and the racetrack or side bets behind a menu. Two things matter more than on a computer: a stable connection, because a dropped stream mid-round can leave a bet to be settled without you seeing it, and data use, because a live stream uses far more than a digital game. Most live games let you lower the video quality. Our casino apps guide explains the difference between apps and mobile sites.
Because Play971 must confirm that you are in the UAE, it checks your location on mobile too: its help centre tells Android users to give the browser permission for precise location, and its games will not open with location services switched off. Any download that calls itself the “Play971 app” does not come from the operator.
How to Choose a Live Casino Table
01
Pick the game with the lowest edge you enjoy — blackjack and baccarat Banker are the cheapest.
02
Check the rules panel for payouts, commission and the published return.
03
Choose limits that fit your budget — a minimum of 2–5% of your session budget.
04
Prefer classic tables to speed tables if you want your budget to last.
05
Treat side bets and game-show multipliers as extras, not your main bet.
06
Play only with a licensed operator — in the UAE, that means Play971.
Common Live Casino Mistakes
- Missing the betting window and chasing the next round with a bigger bet.
- Assuming game shows pay like classic tables — they cost more.
- Playing a bonus on live games without checking the contribution.
- Choosing a table above your budget because it looks more exclusive.
- Playing on a weak connection, especially on mobile data.
- Losing track of time — live rounds run continuously, day and night.

Play Responsibly
Live tables run around the clock and the next round is never more than a minute away, which makes it easy to play for longer than you meant to. Decide your budget in dirhams and a time limit before you sit down, choose a table whose minimum fits that budget, and stop when either runs out. Never raise your stakes to win back losses. If gambling is no longer fun, confidential help is available from BeGambleAware.
